Years of Sally - 2004

To my knowledge Sally has only once appeared with Catherine Tate on TV. The significance being that, under different circumstances regarding Tate, Sally might never have appeared on Not Going Out. It is common knowledge that Sally replaced Megan Dodds in Series 2 of NGO. But the knowledge is possibly reserved for the aficianado's that Megan Dodds was not the original Kate. In the, not televised, pilot Kate was played by Catherine Tate. Success in her other endeavours meant that Tate did not move forwards with NGO.

Wild West was created by Simon Nye, of Men Behaving Badly fame. It starred Catherine Tate and Dawn French. In the penultimate episode of the second and final series, aired in April 2004, Sally played Victoria the daughter that main character Old Jake (David Bradley) never knew he had. Most of Sally's scenes were with Bradley as they explored their new found father/ daughter relationship.

In 2004 BBC News produced a documentary series "If....." which explored what the future might be like in certain circumstances. The programs included dramatised looks at the possible outcomes. Sally played Dr Sally in the episode "If.... we could stop the violence".

On stage Sally had 2 outings in 2004.

In the Manchester Library Theatre productions of "All My Sons", Sally played Ann Deever. The Guardian reviewed that Sally, along with her on stage partner Jamie Lee, made "an excellent pair of standard bearers for the disallusioned post war youth".

Also in Manchester, at the Royal Exchange, Sally played Gail Williams in "A Conversation".

Another major part for Sally came in 2004 when she was cast as Kim Alabaster in the hilarious hospital comedy "Green Wing". As one of the, many, main characters Sally shone. Brilliantly portraying Alabaster the loud and outspoken member of the Administration team which included Broadchurch star and future Oscar winner Olivia Coleman. Sally had many funny lines and moments. Along with The Office and  Absolute Power, this role must surely have assured a bright future as a comedy actress.
