Years of Sally - 2007

2007 was the year that Sally's fame leapt to a whole new level when she got the part in Series 2 of Not Going Out. But more of that in a moment. NGO was not Sally's only appearance in 2007!

2007 saw the Pilot episode of Dan Clark's "How Not to Live Your Life". Sally had the part of Abby which went on to be one of the main roles. The series was a success and Sinead Moynihan took the part of Abby when it was taken up. One can only imagine that with Sally being "preoccupied" she wasn't able to move on with the role herself.

"A Fitting Tribute" was a short film - comedy drama in which Sally played Tammy the "experienced" journalist teaching Niall, played by Thomas Nelstrop, the art of the "death knock" when writing an obituary. Sally saw the script as "really intriguing and the writing flowed very well".

Casualty is a long running medical drama produced by the BBC. Sally has appeared in it twice playing two different roles. In 2007 she was Suki Williams a biker and "rebel" daughter of, one of the consultants at the hospital, Henry Williams. The side story see's the two rebuilding their broken relationship while Suki recovers after an accident.

Hotel Babylon was a drama set in a hotel and based on the book by Imogen Edward-Jones. Sally had a guest role which saw her return to the screen with Alexander Armstrong. This time as Elizabeth, PA to Armstrong's volatile Actor Aiden Spencer. Eventually, with the help of one of the hotel's staff, Elizabeth is able to find revenge and take control.

Outlaw was an action thriller with a cast that included Sean Bean, Danny Dyer and Bob Hoskins. Sally played Kelly, fiancé of the Dyer character Gene Dekker. A minor role seen little after the initial wedding scenes.

Megan Dodds had decided not to go on with the role of Kate in Not Going Out. She, and the character, returned to America. Sally got the call for casting for the new role of Lucy, sister to the Tim character, and to become Lee's landlady. It was not a straightforward process and she auditioned a number of times before landing the role. But land the role, she did, and 18 years on she still plays the part of Lucy albeit through 3 life iterations. It is the part that, undoubtedly, launched Sally to the top level's of television comedy acting where she remains today.
